GM racks up big loss from Venezuela's plant takeover. The company says it will take a $100 million charge against its profits after losing control over its Venezuelan plant. The company filed an appeal with the Venezuelan Supreme Court, which, if successful, would dismiss the lawsuit that led to the seizure.

American Manufacturing is having a moment. The ISM manufacturing index displayed measures of growth again in manufacturing, for the 8th straight month. The industry has added over 50,000 jobs this year, and every month has reported gains.

Braidy Industries to Build USD$1.3B Aluminum Rolling Mill in Eastern Kentucky. This is the first greenfield aluminum rolling mill to be built in the US in over 30 years. This new investment, in partnership with the state of Kentucky will partner with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System to enhance its Material Sciences and Manufacturing programs.

Retooling for More Effective Hard Milling. Sarco Precision, a 15-person job shop in Washington state, recently bid on a hard-part machining job, which ended up taking longer than anticipated, and would rupture the end mills if it was sped up at all. However, changing tools fixed the problem and even had them seeking out similar work.
